How the number you actually receive is worked out
The rate is quoted before you send anything, and it holds
You see the rate and the total before you confirm, and that is the figure the desk works to. It carries a time it holds until, which is published alongside it rather than left for you to guess. Nothing is taken off after the fact: if a cost applies, it is in the number you agreed to, not deducted from the payout afterwards.
Larger trades earn a better rate per dollar
Crypto sell rates are tiered by size. The same coin sold in a larger amount is priced a little higher per dollar, because the cost of settling a trade does not rise in step with its value. The tiers are published in full on the sell crypto page and update as the rate does, so you can see which band a trade falls into before you start rather than discovering it at the end.
With gift cards, the country and format matter more than the size
A USA card and a UK card of the same face value are different products at different prices, and the gap between them is usually wider than anything the denomination explains. A physical card and an e-code are also priced separately. So read the variant on your card before you read a rate: "$200 Apple" is not a complete description of what you are holding. Each card also has a ceiling on what the desk will buy in a single card, and it is written on that card's own page rather than discovered at payout.
What moves the number from week to week
Two things, and one of them dominates. The market price of what you are selling moves the figure, and so does the naira — and over a typical week the naira usually moves it more. That is why a rate is published with a time it holds until instead of being described as fixed, and why a platform quoting a headline figure with no expiry beside it is worth a second look.
Where to see today's figures
Live rather than written into this page, because a rate typed into a pricing page is out of date the day after it is typed: crypto sell rates and gift card rates. Both carry the time they were read.
